SEVGI EMEL EKER
Sevgi Emel Eker is a film director and writer who’s films have traveled to numerous festivals such as Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, Slamdance, Vienna Shorts, Tampere International Short Film Festival and The Norwegian International Film Festival of Haugesund, where her second directorial work, The 99 steps left from the square was awarded with the Next Nordic Generation award (2018). The 99 steps left from the square was the first part of an upcoming trilogy of short films. The second part 49 years from the house on the left had its European premiere at Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival’s 2020 LAB competition from where it continued to Tampere International Short Film Festival to win the Golden Shade award. Both, The 99 steps left from the square and 49 years from the house on the left were also curated for the “Displaced” exhibition at Oulu and Lappeenranta art museums (2020). The third part of the trilogy 7 P.M. on a Sunday had its premiere at Tampere International Short Film Festival (2022).
Sevgi is currently finishing two feature film scripts; the feature length version of 7 P.M. on a Sunday that was selected for International Film Festival Rotterdam’s Cinemart 2023 and a project called Room 1406 that was selected for Women in Film and Television Finland’s In Focus Incubator. Both films are currently in development. Sevgi is also participating in the Nordic Film Lab at Göteborg Film Festival 2024.
